Submission Deadline
SYMPOSIA
The abstract of a symposium should be submitted by 31 March 2025.
The Organizing Committee invite proposals for symposia that reflect the breadth and variety of anatomical sciences. The intent for a symposium is to provide a forum for speakers to explore a topic that will engage specialists in the field and inform those new to it. The symposia are distinguished from other organized sessions in that they are more explicitly integrated and provide an overall synthesis on the topic.
The proposal of a symposium is encouraged to address the conference theme (Proceed) if appropriate, but doing so is not mandatory. The symposia will provide APICA and CSAS members with a unique opportunity to present their work at the conference.
GUIDELINES FOR SYMPOSIA PROPOSALS
Symposia should have a minimum of two organizers and ideally include speakers from more than one institution.
The organizers of a symposium should develop a proposal that not only has strong contents but also significant international representation and diversity.
l Each symposium will be 80 minutes in length.
l Individual presentation and discussion periods can be at the discretion of the organizers but should be in multiples of 20 minutes to facilitate synchronization with parallel sessions. For example, organizers can choose to have a longer ‘keynote’ talk, and a series of shorter talks or all talks may have the equal duration.
l The proposal should provide details of the invited speakers who have expressed interest in participating, a title or topic for their presentation, and list any specific audio-visual presentation requirements.
l Proposals listing more than 4 or fewer than 3 confirmed speakers will not be considered.
The symposium organizer is responsible for submitting an overall abstract for the proposed symposium. It is important to ensure that all of the invited speakers agree to the abstract submission.
There are no organizing or submission fees for symposiums. The Organizing Committee will waive the registration fee and provide complimentary access to the Pearl River Night Cruise, which includes a buffet dinner, for up to four speakers per symposium, including the symposium organizers. It is the responsibility of the organizers to ensure that all the speakers will cover their own travel, accommodation, and any other incidental expenses.
Symposium Proposal Format
Symposium proposals should be submitted as a Microsoft word file (doc. or docx.) according to the following format.
l Symposium title: The title should be informative, extensive, and preferably catchy.
l Organizer(s): Please provide the name(s), institution(s), and email(s) of all organizers who will serve as the point of contact for the session and be responsible for communicating with the speakers.
l Description (Overall Abstract): Should include the following:
Ø A description of the symposia topic not exceeding 250 words which includes background information, goals, objectives, relevance, and timeliness of the topic.
Ø A list of additional audio-visual presentation requirements (all venues have data projectors, network ports for laptops, radio microphones, speaker systems).
l One-sentence session summary: This is an abridged version (less than 50 words) of the session description that will appear in the program.
l Presentation title and description: Should include the following for each speaker separately:
Ø The tentative title of the presentation
Ø A brief description of the topic not exceeding 100 words
Ø Speaker's contribution to this particular session
Ø Name, institution, and email of the speaker
Ø Only the speakers who have been contacted and have committed to the session should be listed.
Important note:
Each focused symposium requires an overall abstract (250 words) and a separate brief description (100 words) for each contributing speaker for the symposium. All this information should be combined into a single Word document.
